Music evenings
In 2023, our 'House Band' invited a Wellington 'Balkan Band' to share an evening. Shindig and Mehana each performed a 'set', a supper was shared, and then the musicians sat around a table and 'jammed' on tunes they all knew. The evening was a 'blast'!

Each month, one Friday evening is given over to music. The evening is completely informal. It usually consits of our resident 'house band', Shindig, gathering for a 'jam session', along with anyone who turns up and wants to participate. The audience also frequently joins in!
But September 2023 saw a variation on this regular patter. HVIS invited the Wellington / Hutt Valley GFHA along to celebrate their successes over the past 12 months. We started the evening with a few 'Trad' musicians playing in a corner, and then most of the Shindig regulars took over, with a little assistance. See for yourself.
