Meet our Hutt Valley Rose

Each year we select a Hutt Valley Rose of Tralee to represent us at the National Final.

The 2015 Rose of Tralee

The National Final is being held in Lower Hutt over the weekend of June 5-7. For information on how to book tickets, where to stay, what's the schedule, who are the contestants! Everything you need to know and more.

We regularly hold a regional contest as part of the national and international Rose of Tralee contest.

The criteria for the selection of a Hutt Valley Rose of Tralee are very simple - contestants must be:

  • Age

at least 18 years of age, and under 27 years of age
  • Single

    not married nor a parent
  • Ancestry

    of Irish birth or descent
  • Live here

have been resident in New Zealand for at least 12 months

They are judged over the course of interviews and during an on-stage appearance at a social gathering.

This social function is normally held at the HVIS premises, and is a good, old-fashioned Irish function - good music, fine food, grand craic, and of course the Roses.

If you meet the criteria and would like the opportunity to compete for the chance to represent New Zealand's Irish community at the International Festival, you need to get in touch with us TODAY .
